The Digital Video Basics Workshop is a 3 1/2-day workshop open to students in grades 7 through 12. The workshop covers the basics of narrative filmmaking including screenwriting and storyboarding, production planning, acting, shooting, sound recording, and editing. Students will complete a short film that will be shown at the Young Filmmakers Competition Awards Ceremony on Saturday, July 28, 2007. The Community Documentary Filmmaking Workshop is a 5-day workshop open to students in grades 9 through 12. The workshop gives you the tools and skills you'll need to tell a personal, real-life story about your world. Your filmmaking team will select a subject for your film involving local history or the natural environment and the short film you complete will be shown at the Young Filmmakers Competition Awards Ceremony on Saturday, July 28, 2007. The Acting on Camera Workshop is a 2-day workshop open to students in grades 4 through 12. The workshop encourages kids to use their natural talent in a creative atmosphere. Julie Alexander, an Off-Broadway actor/director who has conducted workshops from the director's point of view for children for over ten years, heads up the workshop, assisted by a 7-person team of instructors and crew members. The Camera FUNdamentals Workshop is a 3-day workshop (1/2 days) open to students in grades 3 through 6. This beginning videography workshop focuses on the operation of the camcorder, the core building block of the digital film. Young children learn to use the video camera as a tool for seeing themselves and their world in new and different ways and to share their new vision with others through the footage they shoot. The registration deadline for the Digital Video Workshop is July 14; the registration deadline for all other workshops is June 30, 2007. Space is limited and registrations are accepted in the order received.
