Faculty Biographies
 |
Tom Hansell is a documentary
filmmaker who worked for many years at Appalshop, a media arts center located in
the heart of the Appalachian Coalfields. Hansell has sixteen
years experience working with students and adults to create
media about their communities. He has taught community video
workshops in throughout the U.S as well as in China and
Indonesia. Tom heads up the
Community Documentary Filmmaking Workshop. |

Merritt is a graduate of the
New York Film Academy. He works as a Media Specialist at the
University of Arkansas at Little Rock. He is the only Arkansas
filmmaker currently listed on the Arkansas Arts Council’s
Artists-in-Education roster. Merritt is lead instructor for
the Script to Screen Advanced Workshop and a team
member in the Acting on Camera Workshop. |

Nicki
Newburger began working with youth media arts in
Berkeley where her academic program integrated film studies,
art history, cultural anthropology, and journalism. Returning
to her hometown of Memphis, she co-created an innovative arts
education program with Opera Memphis, the Songwriting
and Music Video Production Program for Teens. Nicki is lead
instructor for the Camera FUNdamentals Workshop and
a team member in the Script to Screen Basics Workshop. |

Will
O'Loughlen has been a T Tauri instructor since the
program's inception. He has taught film and television
production in the Memphis City Schools and helped organize the
first
Platform International Animation Festival presented by the
Cartoon Network. Will is the lead instructor for the
Script to Screen Basics Workshop. |

Pell Osborn, M.Ed., designer,
animator, and teacher, founded MotionArt Studios in 1982, and
has designed projects for ABC News 20/20, American Airlines,
Continental Cablevision, General Motors, Ocean Spray,
Raytheon, Save the Children and UNICEF. His lifelong passion
for animation led to the creation of LineStorm, an interactive
program which merges traditional and computer animation to
explore and clarify complex issues and ideas. Pell leads The
Digital Flipbook Animation Workshop. |

Jermalle “Blink”
Williams lives in Marion, Arkansas. He has worked as an
artist-in-residence for the Memphis City Schools and as a
teacher in the Echoes of Truth Program, a Memphis City Schools
sponsored summer program pairing at risk students with
students gifted in the arts. Jermalle has eight years of
professional experience working with Final Cut Pro editing
software. He is an instructor in the Script to Screen Basics
Workshop and an editor/facilitator in The Digital
Flipbook Animation Workshop. |
